Busy, busy with Thanksgiving preparations, school and work. But I wanted to take a small (and fast) break to let ya know, that I…finally…have…seen…the much anticipated…TWILIGHT MOVIE!!!!
Yes, I am a Twi-hard! I’m neither team Edward nor team Jacob, I love them all. Yes, it’s one of my guilty pleasures. I completed love the books and the movies!
I initially got wrapped up in its wonder when I was unemployed…not by choice. But that’s another story. But the book served as an escape from the daily troubles of that time. And I was absolutely smitten with the story. I read all of the books in about a month!
I waited for oh so long for this movie to come out. Excuse the uber excitement, but this is Part 1 of 2 of the end. So what makes this movie so exciting? It’s watching the characters grow and change and just watching the story unfold. And it’s almost the end. Just getting to see how the movie captures the book. Yes, I know, I know, for the most part the book is always better than the movie, but it’s like your imagination coming to life.
I know I am going to have a biased opinion because I repeat I am a Twi-hard. I loved it! Yes, I found it a bit odd that music played pretty much the entire movie, but when the final minutes of the movie came, I realized why this was done. It was completely silent and you could sense the important and the magnitude of the change that Bella (the main character) was going through. I will not spoil it; you will have to see it for yourself. Yes, the movie moved quite fast, very fast actually, but I was happy that the movie showed parts that I didn’t think they would. SPOILER: The delivery, the baby, Jacob’s imprint on ReneEsme. But I would have loved a bit more tease for the next movie. I did love how it almost seemed more relaxed and funny, especially the wedding part. It captured a family coming together and accepting and understanding (unknown) differences...What can I say I’m a sucker for this.
So now I must wait another year or so before the final Twilight movie. It will be a sad moment for me, but I can’t wait!  Sorry that I kinda rushed through this, it’s a bit busy for me. See ya after Turkey day!

For the record...

Yes, I truly feel joy, glee, and happiness for all those who have gotten married and starting their new families. These are new changes and the start of new and hopefully wonderful journeys and maybe one day I will get to know what that feels like. But right now I don’t.
Currently, I am not planning my wedding or even engaged. I am not anyone’s biological mother, nor am I currently pregnant.  ---- This does not mean that I have nothing going on in my life!
I am not a loser because I haven’t reached those defining moments in my life, who knows if I ever will.
I repeat I am very genuinely happy for everyone whose life has brought them these new additions into their lives. It is exciting thinking about sharing a home and life with the love of your life. It is exciting picking out baby clothes and names and preparing for the new bundle of joy.
However, because I am not in that stage of my life it does not mean or implies that I have accomplished nothing in my life.  I am working towards a better future for myself and anyone included in it. I feel that there shouldn’t be anything wrong with placing yourself as #1. Isn’t that what we’re taught to do? To love, better, and prepare yourself so that you can become better and attainable to other people or events in your life???
I not bitter or envious just tired of people thinking that my life has added to nothing because I’m not a wife and/or mother. I am someone to a lot of people. I am a daughter, sister, aunt, friend, girlfriend. I am Maria.

You know, but its still nice to hear

I'm sure all of us at one point or another has had this happen before. You want to hear something, even though you know it but its always nice to hear it from someone else.

Today those words for me is beautiful and appreciation.

I know that I am beautiful and probably appreciated but man oh man I wish someone would just say I am. Sometimes hearing from someone else is just...better than saying it to yourself.

I hope I'm not the only one on this.

So the other day I was looking through People magazine and it had a pretty neat idea. A DIY project where you can store your jewelry on a bulletin board. I live part time at my boyfriend house and needless to say most of my jewelry is at his house, jewelry box less. So figure I would give it a go. I hate that all of my stuff is in one big pile, becoming the easiest way to damage and lose jewelry.

So I went off to the store, brought a bulletin board and some pushpins. But I really couldn't find any pretty push pins, so I decided I was going to make some. I brought the regular looking pushpins and I already had glitter and glue. It was actually quite simple.

Step 1 - Gather all my supplies. Paper plate, push pins, glitter, glue.

Step 2 - Either put the glitter on a plate or zip-lock bag (which I didn't have, thus the paper plate)
They can be mixed together or kept separate.

Step 3 - Now roll the push pin in the glitter or put a group of glued push pin in the zip lock bag, and shake.

Step 4 - Set the push pins to dry.
I suggest that you carefully stand up the pins, not laying because if there's too much glue on the pin, it will drip off. You can lightly pierce it through the paper plate before finally pushing the pin onto the bullentin board.

This is the finished project! Love it!

Hallow's Eve

Oh Halloween, Halloween! I absolutely love Halloween, its happens to be one of my favorites holidays. I love everything about it:decorations, scary movies, candy, the parties, the costumes, weather, the whole vibe in general.

The best part is dressing up. I know, I know sometimes it can get a little expensive buying a new costume each year, let alone trying to figure out what to be for Halloween. A lot of people this year either waited to the very last minute to get some deal off of a costume, made their own, or created something out of their closet...this is kinda what I did.

So this year I decided that I wanted to be a "traditional" day of the dead (Dia de los Muertos)-- "girl." Ok you might be thinking either "what's that?" or "ok a zombie" It's not really a zombie but I certainly was "dead." Day of the dead is a Mexican holiday in where people remember deceased loves ones, by decorating & visiting alters. Even though it is a bit morbid, the decorations can be very pretty.

People can and do wear makeup to embody or reseamble the dead. Well this is what initially gave me the idea. I was looking for a new background for my phone when I came across this picture...

And I fell in love with the whole idea. Thus I started my transformation into live human to sexy dead corspe. Let me tell you that applying all the makeup took a lot longer than I expected. I think it took me about an hour and half. And towards the end I kinda had to rush because I was late to the party. It was well worth the time but I sincerely didn't believe it was going to take me that long.

I wanted to put an instructional video but I still haven't gotten my whole laptop situation fixed so I don't have access to many video editing programs right now. Maybe later. So this how my makeup turned out.

Overall, I was really proud of how it turned out. And my fam and friends were really impressed. I guess it's not the typical costume. Now my sister wants to have a whole theme party involving everyone done up similarly!

So finished the look by buying a pair of earrings and top that had a "Spanish" flair to it. And a skirt that I already had own. (I can't put that picture up right now...technical issues!)

Overall I think I spent less that $40 bucks. Plus the earrings and top is something that I can continue to wear. So no lost money there!

Hope everyone had an awesome Halloween!
