Creative-ness...Headbands

Ok I am the first to admit that I am not the most creative person, even though I would love to claim as such. I love seeing people create beautiful and pretty things with their own hands. I love the magazine, Real Simple and look up to people like Martha Stewart for both their creatures and organization. Now organization is something I'm great at. I love looking at a room and seeing all the potential.

But as I was saying creating things is not my forte, but I have started to dabble in a bit. So as I go along, I will share some of my activities. And of course if anyone has some suggestions or plain out has a better way of doing something, I welcome them.

So I made little Valentine gift bags for my nieces. I pretty much just got a bunch of little things and put them in a bag. It's kinda like Easter baskets, but bags.

However, I wanted to add a little special treat in there as well. I love hair accessories. I try to give my nieces barrettes and bows so that they can wear them. My nieces can sometimes be a bit...eccentric. And they always like to play around with their hair...and mine. I think once they even stuck a comb in there!

So off I went to the crafts store to buy some delights.

My supplies:
-Glue gun
-Glue sticks
-Ribbon of your choice
-Fabric'd headband
-Scissors

I also brought some gemstones, but at the last minute I decided to not add it to the headband.

I love that you can pretty much grab any ribbon and add it to headband. So be creative, add feathers,  felt patterns, buttons, glitter (i love glitter!), anything. Add your own unique touch.

Creative-ness

So the other day I was looking through People magazine and it had a pretty neat idea. A DIY project where you can store your jewelry on a bulletin board. I live part time at my boyfriend house and needless to say most of my jewelry is at his house, jewelry box less. So figure I would give it a go. I hate that all of my stuff is in one big pile, becoming the easiest way to damage and lose jewelry.

So I went off to the store, brought a bulletin board and some pushpins. But I really couldn't find any pretty push pins, so I decided I was going to make some. I brought the regular looking pushpins and I already had glitter and glue. It was actually quite simple.

Step 1 - Gather all my supplies. Paper plate, push pins, glitter, glue.

Step 2 - Either put the glitter on a plate or zip-lock bag (which I didn't have, thus the paper plate)
They can be mixed together or kept separate.

Step 3 - Now roll the push pin in the glitter or put a group of glued push pin in the zip lock bag, and shake.

Step 4 - Set the push pins to dry.
I suggest that you carefully stand up the pins, not laying because if there's too much glue on the pin, it will drip off. You can lightly pierce it through the paper plate before finally pushing the pin onto the bullentin board.

This is the finished project! Love it!

Auntie & Nieces Day

Recently I had my first monthly auntie & nieces day. What's that u ask...well it was "politely" brought to my attention that I don't spend enough time with my niece, by my niece. And she's right. You see if I'm not at my boyfriends, I'm in class, studying, working, working out, running errands basically doing a bunch of things other than spending time with them. So together we came up with auntie & nieces day. One day out of the month i spend with them doing whatever is fun for them and at the same time i'm having quality time with them.

The day finally came, so quickly that I really didn't have too much planned. Plus it started to rain so we couldn't be outside much. After googling for some ideas I finally decided to take em to the Kid Museum, Launch Zone by the National Harbor in Maryland. This area is rather new. About 5 or so years ago it was nothing but land and dirt. Disney brought the land and now its covered in hotels, chic stores and apartments, nice restaurants all facing the harbour. Its a really nice place to say the least. So we head off to the kids museum and it turns out them were doing some arts & crafts for the New Chinese Year. The girls had the opportunity to make a bunch of things.

Then we headed over to Ketchup. This is a restaurant that I've been wanting to eat at for a while but haven't gotten the opportunity. So we sit and enjoyed quite a delicious brunch. The pictures speak for themselves. The prices were reasonably priced. Great service! Cool atmosphere.

I had the cesar salad. Delicious!

The girls had pancakes and meats. I thought it was so
cute that it was placed on adult plates.

And of course no day can be complete without dessert or something sweet. I wanted to eat dessert but the girls had other plans. So we aheaded to the Peeps store and we all got to make a bag full of candy we picked out. Pretty awesome.

So for it being the first auntie and nieces day, i think it was a success.

My girls.
